I am Maitham Al Lawati, the founder and CEO of PowerDMARC. I established PowerDMARC in 2020 as a domain security and email authentication SaaS platform. Originally from Oman, I have a passion for cybersecurity and email security solutions. My journey in the industry led me to recognize the growing importance of securing domains and authenticating emails, which inspired the creation of PowerDMARC. With a commitment to enhancing online security, I lead a team of passionate and dedicated domain security experts in developing innovative solutions to combat email-based threats and ensure a safer digital environment for businesses of all sizes.

Can you give us your elevator pitch?

We stop hackers from sending emails from your own domain. We are a cybersecurity SaaS platform that helps organizations of all sizes prevent phishing, spoofing, and domain abuse.

We cater to businesses of all sizes, and any organization with a domain name can hugely benefit from our domain security and email authentication solutions.

Domain names are frequently impersonated and duped to carry out malicious activities using the goodwill of legitimate brands. This negatively impacts the brand’s reputation and credibility. PowerDMARC secures domain names against impersonation through tailored domain & email security solutions on a cloud-native interface. We make it easier for organizations to adopt and enforce complex and technical security protocols the right way, and faster.

What was the moment or situation that sparked the idea for your business?

The idea for PowerDMARC was sparked the moment I saw the rising sophistication of phishing attacks, email spoofing, and other malicious activities that could compromise the integrity of digital communications - especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the critical need for robust domain security and email authentication, I was inspired to create a solution that would address these challenges comprehensively, for all business sizes.

How did you test and refine your initial product idea, and were there any significant pivots or changes in direction based on initial feedback or market response?

In the early stages of developing PowerDMARC, I conducted thorough market research to understand the needs and pain points of potential users. This research helped shape the initial product idea. To test and refine the concept, I engaged with a select group of passionate security professionals and talented engineers to bring my ideas to fruition.

While there may have been some adjustments based on initial feedback, the core vision of PowerDMARC remained intact. The iterative process of testing, refining, and incorporating user feedback contributed to a more robust and market-ready product.

What specific strategies or decisions significantly contributed to the growth and scaling of your business?

We highly prioritize customer feedback and improve our services and solutions to fit our client’s needs better and solve their problems more effectively. We also keep custom pricing for organizations of all sizes instead of a flat fee, to ensure our services are accessible to all. Practicing inclusivity by translating our platform and marketing materials into more than 11 global languages further helped us grow our business and explore new markets.

What's the story behind your brand and marketing approach?

The most common hurdle faced by organizations is the complexity involved in configuring email authentication protocols. We take this hassle away from organizations by automating the process for them and handling most of the complexities in the background through hosted and managed solutions.

How did you attract and secure your first customers?

It was possible for PowerDMARC to secure our first customers through word-of-mouth, networking and outreach, educational content, free trials, and ‌responsive customer support.

What's been your approach to product development?

PowerDMARC's product development is driven by an agile methodology. We prioritize a user-centric design, and we focus on continuous improvement through user feedback. Our features are driven by the needs of the market and industry, ensuring scalability to meet the diverse needs of businesses. We keep enhancing our features to adapt to the ever-evolving threat landscape.

How have you navigated the financial aspects of your business?

We maintain financial discipline and allocate resources efficiently. Regular financial assessments and forecasting help us make informed decisions, ensuring the company's financial health aligns with our growth objectives.

What future do you envision for your company?

PowerDMARC has seen exponential growth ever since its inception in 2020. Through this journey, we have learned the importance of having a passion for something and combining it with true dedication and hard work. Fortunately, we have been able to bring together some of the greatest minds in the industry as a part of our team, actively involved in problem-solving and engineering solutions that make a real difference in the information and email security sector.
